The Belinda Stronach Foundation has launched a new OLPC Canada website describing their current plans, partners, and development of learning materials (and a new Sugar-like interface using aboriginal designs...) Thanks are due to BMO Financial and the Ontario government, and the other partners who helped bring the TBSF plans to fruition - most recently with a $750,000 grant.
In New Brunswick, Canada, over 3,500 middle school students received laptops through a one-laptop-per-child program over the past 5 years. They recently released a report card on initial outcomes of the first years of the program, which showed great improvement in writing and creative skills as well as in more quantitative areas.
The OLPC Academy program was launched in 2010 to connect the world's top universities with 22 countries around the world who have embraced one laptop per child. Through the Academy program, Masters and PhD students as well as undergrads can get hands-on experience with OLPC schools in the field.Read more about the One Laptop Per Child Academy on laptop.org
